- William (Bill) Howie was born at Dunnydeer Insch in 1893 He attended school in Scotland
In 1910 at the age of 17 he emigrated to Canada to join his brother David who went the year before They met at Estevan SK where they were both employed in the brickyards After a while Bill worked his way to Vancouver and then down the Western coast to California
During WW1 Bill spent time in the American Army
He settled in the Los Angeles area working at various trades and occupations before he met and married Mary Quinn She died in 1956
In 1857 Bill remarried a girl called Helen She died in Arcadia in 1966 He married a third time in 1966
Charlotte and Bill lived in Arcadia until he died in in 1974 Although married three times Bill had no children
Many of his neices and nephews remember Bill and Mary when they visited Falher in 1949
Bill also returned for a few days in July 1965 when his sister Isabella Pelletier was under going medical treatment
