    • Lewis George better known as" Dod"or Jock was born at the Belts of Dunnydeer Insch in1901 After his primary schooling he was employed at age 12 as a pig boy at Millden of Behelvie His pay was £5 a year and his keep He went on to work for other farmers on various farms before joining the Railway Company
      In 1917 he enlisted in the Royal Navy and was stationed at H M S Drake in Plymouth He trained in Portsmouth to be an officers cook but did see action in the war
      In 1922 he married Mary Ann Crook in St. Marks Church Devonport Mary was born in Exeter in 1907 They established home in a flat in Keyham Mary was an expert knitter working for a company which sold to film stars and the gentry
      After leaving the R N Lewis George worked for the GPO telephones on the development of underground cables
      The work was intermittent and during a spell of unemployment they moved to a cottage at Hatt near Saltash farming for A J Renfree until disillusioned with farming he returned to the telephone company Next move was to a cottage in Trematon and then Lewis fell seriously ill with Lobar pneumonia in 1938,after which they moved to their last home a rented semi in Saltash Complications from a hip operation in 1973 forced his retirement from the Telephone Company
      He became a game keeper to Sir Douglas Marshall part time occupations now turned full time He was interested in apple tree growing, bee keeping and a crack shot with both shotgun and rifle not to mention fresh water fishing In 1979 they made a trip to Oklahoma to visit their daughter Jessie one time GI bride
      After George died Mary suffering from Alzheimers became resident of Trevis House in Liskeard and died there in 1987 Lewis had been cremated and his ashes were interred with his spouse so that they might remain together
      They raised a family of three children
