    • Christopher John William (Bill) was born in Plymouth in 1928 He left school at 14 and was apprenticed to William Channing farmer and Blacksmith He did another year with a blacksmith who did agriculturial machinery then at a creamery learnt tinsmithing and panel beating
      He joined the GPO telephones
      After marrying Cecelia Goldsmith in Woking he joined the Royal Artillery and served in Germany transferring to the Royal Horse Artillery and then the prestigious Kings Troop
      After discharge he set up as a farrier in Warminster thence Lambourne where he plated horses for a leading trainer He returned to Cornwall and shod hunters and ponies and did wrought iron work
      Celia died of lung cancerin 1977 and Bill died in 1978 unable to cope without her
      They raised a son Christopher John known as John and never Christopher
