  • Notes
    • Nothing on Martha She first features on a Settlement certificate as Mathew dated 1722/3 and I assume they mean Martha then again later on in the" Monks Kirby Overseers of the Poor Accounts" particularily towards the end of her life and in her widowhood when the parish support her with a new shift and a pair of sheets and petticoat also a blanket All these items are costed and we know exactly what was paid for them and on what date The sheets and the petticoat for widow Goddard cost 12/s and Martha we don't even know your maiden name
      I am sorry Martha

Two of her children Elizabeth and Ann are baptised in Monks Kirby, son Wiliam in Withybrook and Samuel is added due to his attendance as witness at Williams wedding but since no baptism has been located his presence here is speculative

Earliest mention of Goddards appear as Gothard in parish records in 12 June 1658 when they bury William Gothard also in 22 Oct 1661 a William and Margaret Gothard have a son William baptised
The records of this time are very fragmented and it is not possible to link them up
