  • Notes
    • The possible existence of a child Hannah is based upon family legends Joans mother told of blurting out "your Hannah is dead" to her father when he returned from work Due age difference this could not be so However Elizabeth Marshal also tells of her Grandma Goddard making mention of a very pretty child who died young and could have been this Hannah I have tried to find confirmation The story of "your Hannah is dead" comes from the death of a Hannah belonging to Uncle George Goddard at a later date and the two have been confused
Birth March 1877 Registered Mansfield Vol 7b Page 61 and death at 4 years of age registered Sept 1881 Mansfield Vol 7b Page 38 (certificate required and ordered 28 Dec 2004) I have a feeling that I have been through this before and found Hanna has father William Adlington but mother is not Mary Burton and therefore she may not be "our" Hannah
Certificate arrives17 Jan 05 and clearly she is not "ours" Father is William Adlington manual worker and Mother is Eliza Radford This certificate identified later and sent on to Kathryn Lewin Aug 2005 Birth certificate received via Kathryn Lewin copy from the GRO shows Hannah born 9 Feb 1865 so family legend has it right
I need to look for her death to complete the picture as she died in infancy Free BMD gives March quarter 1869 age 3 registered Mansfield volume 7b page 47 Sounds right Hannah has come home Kathryn Lewin sends a copy of death cert ificate dated 27th Jan 1968 age 3 years cause of death unknown no medical attendant Informant Mary Adlington (mother) present at the death
