1259 | Searching the IGI for a possible lead to Mary Wilson gives a likely lass Christened 14 Dec 1823 in Fordyce father John and mother Jean Sutherland This would put her age 21on marriage For lack of any other I am listing her with these parents The 1881 Census gives us a Mary Stevenson Widow born Marnoch living alone If we assume her husband was Alexander Stevenson from the age given she is born 1823 Scotlands people search gives us a Mary Wilson born 9 June 1822 (only one Mary) and one year out She is almost certainly the Widow but only "ours" if the first assumption is correct Parents here are James Wilson and Isobel Stuart which clashes with our first item Sandy Stevenson checking on 1861 census reports a Mary Stevenson age 23 Born Boyndie Seems out of line born 1838 The 1861 Census gives Mary Stevenson age 40 with a Margaret age 2 Is this the elusve Mary Wilson? In 1891 a Mary Wilson age 68 Widow is resident in Mid Street South Side Aberchirder born Marnoch This puts birth 1823 but is far from conclusive On checking all the available entries for Mary Wilson or Stevenson noe one quite gives a convincing answer | Wilson, Mary (I3795)
